Dependent Child Visa (Subclass 445)

This visa allows your child stay in Australia with you during the Partner Visa application process.

What You Can Do & How Long You Can Stay

This is a temporary visa lasting until your permanent Partner Visa is finalised.
Your child can travel to and from Australia multiple times.
Your child can live, work and study in Australia whilst on this visa.
Your child can access Medicare whilst on this visa.
The visa remains in effect until your permanent Partner Visa is finalised.

Limitations and Important Things to Know

Your Partner Visa sponsor must be willing to sponsor your child.
After this visa is granted, a separate application is required if you wish to add your child to your permanent Parent Visa application.
A separate application must be made for each dependent child you wish to bring to Australia.
Your child may be refused this visa if a member of their family unit cannot meet health or character requirements, even if they are not accompanying your child to Australia. This is known as the “One Fail, All Fail” rule.
