Student Guardian Visa (Subclass 590)

This visa allows you to come to Australia as the guardian of a student who is enrolled in an Australian education course.

What You Can Do & How Long You Can Stay

This is a temporary visa. The length of the visa is dependent on the length of the associated student visa and when that student turns 18.
You can travel to and from Australia multiple times, however you must demonstrate that provisions have been made for the student’s welfare if you are not travelling together.
You can bring your child to Australia if they are under 6 years old.

Limitations and Important Things to Know

You must be over 21 years old.
You cannot work on this visa.
You may be refused this visa if you cannot satisfy the Department that you are a Genuine Temporary Entrant.
You may be refused this visa if you cannot demonstrate that you can provide accommodation, general welfare and support to the student.
You may be refused this visa if you cannot demonstrate that you have genuine access to sufficient funds to pay for the costs and expenses of yourself, the student visa holder, and any accompanying children.
