This visa allows you to live and work in Australia for specific purposes, on a short-term, temporary basis.

There are multiple streams within this visa subclass, each designed for a specific purpose.

Most commonly, it has been used to allow temporary stay for those who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, it is sometimes referred to as the Pandemic Visa, or COVID-19 Visa.

What You Can Do & How Long You Can Stay

This is a temporary visa that allows stays for up to 4 years.
You can travel to and from Australia multiple times.
You can work in Australia whilst on this visa.
You may be eligible for a Bridging Visa to remain in Australia while waiting for this visa to be processed.

Limitations and Important Things to Know

The stream you apply for will be dependent on your personal circumstances. We can help you to identify the most suitable stream for you.
The COVID-19 Pandemic Event stream allows for an extended stay of 12 months in general. If you held a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485), you may be eligible for a 408 Pandemic Event stream visa with a 2-year period of stay.
